The Mother Wound and Your Money :
An Introduction to Maternal Underearning and Financial Healing for Therapists.
Do you feel anxious or ashamed when it’s time to have money conversations?
Are you exhausted from doing too much, for too little while carrying the emotional labor of your clients, community and lineage?
If this resonates, you’re not alone. Many melanated therapists, healers and wellness practitioners struggle with underearning as a mother wound trauma response, along with the reality of living inside systems of oppresssion.
Underearning is when we are unable to earn enough to meet our needs. It's the residue of colonisation, slavery, systemic oppression and generational scarcity. It's the legacy of our ancestors' free labor, having to work twice as hard for half as much, of witnessing our community barely surviving and internalising beliefs that money is not for us.
Why This Workshop?
Many of us have complicated relationships with our mothers which is also tied to shame, struggle, and silence. We believe that caregiving work should be self-sacrificing and as melanated folks we also internalise from systems of oppression that charging well is "uppity, greedy and selfish."
Underearning isn’t just about money, it’s about nurturing your wealth identity, visibility, boundaries, and breaking cycles of poverty trauma. This workshop will help you explore money wounds, how maternal trauma shapes your financial behaviors, and take the first steps toward earning in a way that nourishes you and your practice. You deserve to be financially secure while doing the work you love.
